Ian Gardner began his radio career at the University of Essex in 1992.
In between lectures, he managed to present student radio shows as well as taking responsibility for the general running of the station. After graduating in Information Technology, he moved to 2-Ten FM in Reading to present travel news and a weekend Breakfast show. He then joined Metro Networks as the Flying Eye traffic spotter in 1995 and was appointed Airborne Manager a year later.
His unique style of informative and quick-witted presenting saw Ian flying over London and reporting live for numerous broadcasting organisations, including Talk Radio, Virgin Radio and Sky News. He became the airborne travel voice for Heart 106.2 when the company launched in September 1995, and was soon presenting his own weekend show on the station.
He has featured as a radio presenter at situations ranging from the London Marathon to the Paddington Rail Crash, as well as hosting road shows and interviewing pop stars. Ian has also presented Drivetime and a weekend show at the regional station Wave 105. Up until July 2001, Ian worked full time at Heart 106.2, under the pseudonym Jeff Stryker, as travel and weekend presenter.
Since he started broadcasting in London, Ian has also featured on numerous TV shows, including travel and career programmes for Sky One, Carlton and LWT. In September 2000, he began freelance presenting for Granada TV’s Shop! presenting live on the consumer shopping channel.
Ian now presents full-time for Ideal World, the home shopping channel on Sky 635, and has presented hundreds of hours of live TV selling all kinds of products. |
