Martin Ingram got a taste for radio as a child. As an infant he would pick up a pen and pretend it was a microphone and talk or sing into it. It did, however, take a little time before he started making a living out of it.
After leaving Banff Academy he worked for 12 years as a graphic designer before diving into radio full time. Northsound, in Aberdeen, is the only radio station Martin has worked for - he somehow managed to bypass the usual route of working in hospital radio. He’d always had an ambition to get into radio and set his sights on Northsound, which he still maintains, has one of the freshest sounds amongst all UK radio stations.
Martin started DJ-ing in the North East, mainly around Banff, before finally sending off a demo tape to his favourite station. After a series of what he describes as tedious auditions he got what he wanted - a show of his own! There, he has remained ever since - hosting most of the shows on the station.
He currently presents the highly entertaining and much-listened-to mid-morning show. |
