Peter Holmes can be heard presenting six days a week on Classic Gold Breeze AM Essex.
He was born in Leigh on Sea, Essex and had always wanted to be a broadcaster, but his careers’ master at school had other ideas. This took Chris off on an engineering degree course at Nottingham University and eventually into the tourism industry working in Europe and North Africa.
The pull to become a broadcaster, however, was forever present and in 1987 having freelanced for a few years Peter joined Essex Radio on a full time basis, presenting mid-mornings and, subsequently, the Breakfast Show on Essex FM.
He soon became Programme Director - a position he held for six years - but returned to full time presentation in 1996. Peter has won three major world radio awards and is probably best known for the many characters he’s created as part of his shows. He can currently be heard in Essex on Breeze (1431 0r 1359kHz medium wave) presenting the Big Breeze Breakfast Show, Monday to Friday - and Sunday mornings on the Ray n Pete Show.
Peter frequently appears in pantomime. Previously he was the Town Crier in the Pied Piper of Hammelin with Wayne Sleep and recently appeared as King Crumble in Jack and the Beanstalk with John Inman. |
