Simon Bates took a long time to settle down after he went to University. Fearing the worst from his results, he took off on a trip that took him to America, Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia.
On his return to Britain he joined the BBC and presented a variety of programmes on Radio 2. This was followed by an almost unprecedented move to Radio 1 where Simon remained for something like 20 years.
As well as presenting several shows on GWR stations, including Classic FM, Simon has recently been making television programmes on third world issues.
He has a weekly commentary slot on CBS TV News in America, a weekly series on Australian radio, and also works for SKY NEWS.
Simon is a Sony Awards winner and has been honoured by broadcasters in America, Brazil, India, and Australia. |
